(Redirected from TriPU)

Welcome to this tiny homepage, which shall document project TriPU (TriPhoenix Processing Unit) :) I chose a wiki web because this allows me to build up and document on this page quite nice and perhaps some visitors have useful ideas, too ;). If you have any suggestions, put them in the suggestion box.

Every visitor is welcome to write something in the guest book :)

What is TriPU?

TriPU is an idea inspired by websites about self-build processors (see links). The basic idea is to build a whole processor or even more just with widely available components. I chose the 74xx series of TTL-ICs, because...well I just like them ;) Everything will be handcrafted at home on breadboards, so no special tools are needed, I don't have them anyway :) TriPU's specification is available in the design target document.

What content is available?

As said before, this website's purpose is the document the development of TriPU, perhaps someone is interested in stuff like this :) The following pages are available or will be during the development process:

  • diary: The diary documents my everyday thoughts about the project
  • design target: These pages describe the specification, TriPU should reach
  • microarchitecture: Here you can read all about TriPU's microarchitecture
  • schematics: Well, the schematics for every board :)
  • image gallery: Now what do you think :P
  • part list: All used materials will be listed here, including price
  • notes: Some random notes that don't fit in anywhere

Wiki? What's that?

A wiki is a dynamic website, which can be changed by any visitor (some restrictions apply ;-) ). The wiki system used here is a MediaWiki, the wiki system also used in the famous [WikiPedia (http://www.wikipedia.org)]. More infos at http://www.mediawiki.org/.

What kind of madman does this?

Well, my name is TriPhoenix also known as Dennis. I'm studing computer science (Informatik) at the University of Hamburg and specialising in embedded systems, hardware is my friend :) If you wanna contact me for any reason, try tripu (at) triphoenix (dot) de (and replace words by the correct chars to form a mail address ;)
